  • Roadside Advertising in a Digital Age (Jan. 18, 2011 @ 9:00am-noon | cost: $40)
This workshop walks business owners through the process of registering their businesses on multiple national business databases. These databases are then consumed by a variety of location-based service (GPS) applications (TomTom, Garmin, iPhone/Blackberry and other GPS supported applications). Through the workshop, participants will also learn how to leverage free, online tools to support Internet marketing efforts. This is a hands-on workshop, and is conducted in a state of the art computer lab. At the conclusion of the workshop, business owners will have registered their businesses with national business databases. Several of these databases are used to populate GPS (car navigation) devices and smartphone applications.
  • Making Maps the Googleway (Jan. 18, 2011 @ 1:00pm-4:00 | cost: $40)
Learn how to make GoogleMaps work for your community or your business. Through this workshop, you will explore the basics of Google Earth and Google Maps with a special focus on creating your own maps to share with others. With Google Earth, you can show points, lines and areas with colors and icons of your choice, along with links to webpages, pictures or email addresses. Google Maps provides the ability to create your own custom map online and to share it with friends, have colleagues contribute to the map, or embed your custom map in your own website.
